Hello, I’m Chris.

I’ve been sailing in one form or another for more than 30 years, from dinghies to keelboats to yachts. I wouldn’t claim to be an expert sailor, but I have a real passion for getting out on the water when I can. Along the way, I’ve completed my Day Skipper theory and practical, as well as Dinghy Levels 1 and 2, and I’ve been fortunate to sail in some remarkable places: the rugged West Coast of Scotland, the East Coast around Felixstowe, Ipswich and Pin Mill, and across the Solent. In recent years sadly sailing has had to take a back seat while I completed my Masters – but that’s done now! So now it’s time to get back on the water… and buy my own boat!
Recently, I took on a new adventure by buying a project boat— a 1987 Jaguar 22. My aim is to learn more about sailing through hands-on experience, share the process of restoring and maintaining her, and most importantly, enjoy time afloat with family and friends.
This blog is where I’ll be documenting both the practical journey of working on the boat and sailing adventures (and occasional misadventures) that come with it. It’s part logbook, part learning journey, and part celebration of why we fall in love with sailing in the first place. I will also share other boating and adventurous things that I get up to along the way including some antics with my father in laws new boat on the River Witham in Lincolnshire!
